Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) Dam

Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) Dam is a major masonry dam built across the Cauvery River near Mandya district, Karnataka.
It was constructed under the guidance of Sir M. Visvesvaraya and completed during the reign of Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV, after whom it is named.
The dam is an important source of irrigation, drinking water, and hydroelectric power for southern Karnataka, including Mysuru and Bengaluru.

The famous Brindavan Gardens, located below the dam, are a major tourist attraction known for their landscaped gardens and musical fountains.
KRS Dam plays a crucial role in the Cauvery river basin and is frequently in the news due to interstate water-sharing issues and monsoon-dependent reservoir levels.
