E20 Fuel May Reduce Fuel Economy by 2–6%: Government

Context

The Union Government has informed Parliament that E20 fuel (petrol blended with 20% ethanol) may lower fuel economy by 2–6%, depending on the vehicle’s type and age. However, it has clarified that the blend offers environmental benefits and has not raised concerns regarding engine durability.
